This area of the HMIE website includes examples of effective practice that have been obtained from HMIE evaluative work in colleges and in child protection services.

The many examples of good practice in pre-school establishments, schools and community learning which inspectors have identified through inspections and which were previously displayed here are being reviewed at the moment. We plan to include a selection of the most interesting and effective examples in the Journey to Excellence website over the coming months.
Identifying good practice is a key aim of every inspection. From now on, we are inviting senior staff to identify examples of the most successful practice as part of the initial self-evaluation presentation to the inspection team in pre-school, schools and community learning inspections. These examples may then be included in the inspection report. Where an example of practice is likely to be particularly helpful for others, we will consider developing material about it for inclusion in the Journey to Excellence website.
