Educational Psychology Service EPS Inspections

At the end of 2010, we completed the full cycle of 32 EPS inspections. Having taken due consideration of the need to reduce the burden of scrutiny and the need to align our inspection processes with the Shared Risk Assessment (SRA) process, we are now intending to include EPS as a part of the SRA process. Given that we have completed this cycle, we have current evidence about each EPS service which has already been fed in to each Council’s Assurance and Improvement Plan. As with all other aspects of SRA, if risks are identified in this area, an appropriate scrutiny response would be planned jointly with the Local Area Network and other scrutiny bodies. This may present us with an opportunity to look more broadly at vulnerable learners and Getting it Right for Every Child (GIRFEC).

More information about our findings from the 32 EPS inspections can be found in our report Educational psychology services in Scotland: making a difference.
