Directorate 6 within HMIE has responsibility for leading and coordinating the joint inspection of services to protect children. Inspection teams include staff from HMIE, Scottish Commission for the Regulation of Care (Care Commission), Social Work Inspection Agency, NHS Quality Improvement Scotland and Her Majesty’s Inspectorate of Constabulary (HMIC).
The purpose of the joint inspection is to evaluate the quality of services to protect children and young people and identify good practice and areas for improvement. This will be done by inspecting against quality indicators.
