Dear Mr Robertson

FOLLOW-UP TO THE INSPECTION OF NAIRN ACADEMY THE HIGHLAND COUNCIL

The report on Nairn Academy was published in June 1999. HM Inspectors visited the school in January 2001 to evaluate progress made in responding to the main points for action in the report.

The headteacher and staff had shown commendable commitment towards addressing some of the main recommendations of the report. While the school has made good progress, further work remained to be done. The education authority should work closely with the school to make sure that this progress is maintained and extended. Meantime, HM Inspectors will make no further visits to the school in connection with the 1999 report.

I attach an evaluation and brief account of the response made by the school and the education authority to the main points for action in the report.

I am sending a copy of this letter to parents of children currently in the school and the other recipients of the inspection report.

Yours sincerely

Ian Boyes HM Chief Inspector of Schools Northern Division
