Ethos
The inspection of Glamis Primary School took place in May 1998 as part of a national sample of primary education.
The inspection covered all aspects of the work of the school at all stages. HM Inspectors evaluated learning, teaching and attainment, examined pupils work and interviewed staff and pupils. They assessed the schools processes for self-evaluation and development planning.
The results of a questionnaire sent to all parents were taken into account during the inspection. A member of the inspection team also met representatives of the School Board and parent teacher association.
The school serves the village of Glamis and the surrounding rural area. At the time of the inspection the roll was 46, organised into three classes. Attendance was above national levels.
The school had appropriate sets of aims for pupils, parents and teachers. These aims were stated clearly, and were reflected well in the schools practice.
Pupils and staff worked very well together to create a very welcoming and caring atmosphere within the school. Pupils were courteous and friendly and were proud of their school.
