Standards of behaviour were high. Staff had high expectations of pupils work, and used praise regularly to develop their self confidence and self esteem. There were good arrangements for assemblies and for religious observance.
The school had very good links with parents and the wider community. The school reported pupils progress to parents through clear and informative reports. More general information was communicated effectively through the school handbook and regular bulletins. Commendably, parents were given information leaflets as pupils started new class topics.
Notable features of the schools links with the community included:
·
the very good support of the School Board and parent teacher association;
·
very strong links with local schools to support the curriculum and to smooth pupils transition to secondary school;
·
very good links with schools abroad; and
·
a high level of responsiveness to issues raised by parents.
A questionnaire which sought views about the school was sent to all parents. The views expressed by parents were very positive. All felt that:
·
the school was well led;
·
the school had a good reputation;
·
pupils were well behaved; and
·
their child enjoyed being at school.
A significant number of parents had concerns about the schools accommodation.
