How do I get information from HMIE?

HMIE have produced a publication scheme as required by the Freedom of Information (Scotland) Act 2002. This describes the information that we publish, in what form it is published, and details of any charges for providing the information.

You can access HMIE publication scheme here. The publication scheme does not list all of the information held or published by HMIE. If the information you require is not included in the publication scheme you can search our web-site or submit a written request for it to:

In responding to requests we will do so in accordance with the Freedom of Information (Scotland) Act 2002. When we disclose information in response to an FOI request we will consider whether this material is of interest to the public at large as well as the original applicant. In such cases, we intend to make this information accessible to the wider audience via our web-site within 24 hours of the information being released to the original applicant.
